Criticism of Campbell misses the mark

DEAR EDITOR: As Trumbull County sheriff, I am responsible for overseeing the operation of the Trumbull County Jail. Since taking office, the facility has consistently operated at or above its intended capacity. Managing inmate population levels is an ongoing challenge. To remain in compliance with legal requirements and ensure safe operations, we regularly communicate with courts across the county. DEAR EDITOR: Probate Court candidate Shelly Pratt and her campaign operatives have been circulating and publishing misleading hit pieces against her opponent, Judge Tom Campbell. Pratt is shamelessly trying to exploit a man’s tragic death to advance her political career and to distract the public from her inexperience and general ignorance of probate law and how probate courts operate. DEAR EDITOR: I am writing to my fellow citizens of Trumbull County. I usually stay out of politics, but I cannot stay silent on this. Judge Thomas Campbell has served our community for over 30 years and is one of the most respected members of our legal system. Revoking EPA finding will endanger us all

DEAR EDITOR: For 16 years the EPA Endangerment Finding helped protect our environment and our heath and was an important tool in fighting climate change. The “endangerment finding” is the EPA’s scientific and legal conclusion that the Clean Air Act requires regulation of greenhouse gas emissions to protect public health and welfare. The EPA issued the finding in the Supreme Court’s 2009 Massachusetts v. EPA decision. But the Trump EPA has revoked the endangerment finding, which endangers us all. Dr. Amy Acton’s record is worthy of praise

DEAR EDITOR: Remember the COVID-19 pandemic? Remember how frightened the ENTIRE world was, in March of 2020? Our Republican Gov. Mike DeWine had already chosen Dr. Amy Acton to head the health department. He trusted her and together they got us through those uncertain days. However, once things settled, many of us no longer felt the fear or the need to salute the medical workers, teachers, truck drivers or cared to wear masks. Life went on, thankfully, for many of us.
