Sound off!
Why? Omar Provitt pleaded guilty to mistreatment of animals and was sentenced to 180 days, with credit for one day served. Then, Judge Patricia Knepp suspended 179 of those days. Why? Provitt ends up on probation (why?), and Sebastion, his dog, dies from mistreatment, neglect and chronic starvation. This is fair? Remember this injustice when this judge appears on the ballot again.

Bernie Sanders wrote essays in 1972 that contained graphic content, including a description of a woman fantasizing about being raped by multiple men, and his peers dismissed this and actually voted for him. He still remains a senator and teenagers read his articles. Now some Democrats are endorsing Graham Platner, who had a Nazi tattoo, which he has since covered up. Platner minimizes sexual assault and in the past said that a wounded soldier deserves to die. What kind of Democrats would endorse this man to run for office?

It’s great to recycle. Read the signs on the containers and only put in what is accepted. Same with clothing collection boxes, read the signs and only put in what is accepted. Please don’t bring your garage sale items that didn’t sell and place them around the containers.

A fascist is a nationalist dictator who champions national glory for the good of all citizens. Trump is far more interested in helping himself. He follows Putin’s “cult of personality” playbook. Such authoritarians are called “Personalist Dictators.” Trump has systematically used his power to expand his personal empire with global investments in real estate, fashion, construction, mining, weapons of war, energy, aerospace, Trump Cellular, Trump Cryptocurrency and Trump Media. Our Founding Fathers are rolling over in their graves!

“Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.” — Matthew 5:7. Forty years of Limbaugh and Gingrich moralizing US politics into a zero-
sum war; 30 years of Fox spooking conservatives with hateful lies about the evil, America-hating liberals; a dozen years of “Trump the merciless” conjuring his MAGA cult on social media. What did we expect? We barely have any allies. Global confidence in American leadership and the dollar are all but gone. Do not expect mercy.

Is anyone really stupid enough to think a Republican, Vivek Ramaswamy, will make health care better for Ohioans? Haven’t we been waiting for 10 years to read the detailed text from the imaginary Republican health care bill? So far, Republican reforms have shut down one area hospital, created long lines and wait times at the other and they have forced medical school grads, as well as current medical employees, to leave the area for better, more reliable employment opportunities.

Hey, Warren City Council members, citizens need updates on the following: the search for a hospital, the plan to save money with a company to maintain/replace streetlights, a plan to clean up overgrown areas, demolition of houses that are ready to collapse, the ever-increasing violence in the city, the on-going debate of moving ALL festivals to Perkins Park, new housing in the former YMCA, etc. Start earning your unrealistic salary.

War-time gas prices: Who said, “What goes up must come down”? Thank you, Donald Trump.

Each Saturday when I read Sound Off it’s the same old thing. The same people from the same cities writing their hateful name calling letters about President Trump. These people sound so unhappy and miserable. The Eagles had a song out a few years ago that they should listen to. There’s lyrics in the song that say ” all the bitching and moaning and pitching a fit get over it”!

I have medical experience from working in doctors’ offices. But if an official from a hospital offered me the job of chief of surgery because their boss liked me, I would refuse. Even though it meant more money and perks, I know that I am not remotely qualified and would likely put people in jeopardy. I cannot understand why so many people named to powerful positions in this administration are so delusional or egotistical that they think they can do a job they know nothing about. Congress keeps approving them to please another unqualified man.

Credit card rates are up 26%. Forty thousand programs worldwide that 47 has cut (think of Ebola in the Congo). Four hundred grants for the EPA were curtailed. Credit card debt is huge, with an average of $6,800. He’s lost this war. Iranians are not uneducated like ISIS and Afghanis. He and Petey never thought of the Strait of Hormuz. Did you see Donny blow up on “Meet The Press?” What an idiot. Don’t vote for Husted and Ramaswamy; they are his minions.

Trumbull County Commissioners, be aware of Vivek’s plan to close state universities. It appears that Kent State is on that list. This concerned resident would advise not moving 911 to KSU Trumbull for this reason alone. Vivek is also a huge supporter of data centers and wants Ohio to be a leader in that area. Voters, educate yourself on this candidate.

Yes, in 2023 three activists briefly went topless on the South Lawn during a Pride celebration. The Biden Administration immediately denounced the action and took disciplinary steps. That White House labeled the behavior “simply unacceptable,” “inappropriate,” and “disrespectful” to hundreds of families attending. The individuals involved violated decorum and were barred from future events. Unlike other recent White House events, it was not politically partisan or commercially exploitative. It did not spread COVID hospitalizing attendees into intensive care nor involve a $1 million cost for resodding the South Lawn.

“The Warren Arbor Commission will host a public meeting … to celebrate the city’s first Tree City USA award.” “Residents can learn about proper tree care, public tree maintenance responsibilities …” Did you attend, Mr. Cantalamessa? Of course, it’s too late for the historic trees that once stood behind Women’s Park that he destroyed. How ironic! Our city is being honored for something that a “leader” and elected official destroyed! Shameful!

Well it looks like the DOJ’s $1.7 billion dollar anti-weaponization fund is being dropped. I have an idea. How about writing a fat check to every American adult to help them pay for the high cost of gas, food, health care and the inflated cost of everything else?
Don’t think I’ll hold my breath waiting for that to happen.

Ah, summertime, when the urban heat could ignite those so inclined to riot, especially after watching TV news footage — ad infinitum — of a woman getting punched by a Charlotte police officer. His repeated blows got him fired, but it couldn’t have been for crazily resisting his attempt to control her, or it couldn’t have been because she interfered with police commands to stop, or it couldn’t have anything to do with her past record. Obviously, the woman, who was just out planting daisies in her front yard, has grounds for a civil reward.

Trump was never in the military, in fact, dodged any service and therefore, has no right whatsoever to salute the flag during the national anthem, but should place his hand over his heart. All people, except the military, should place their hands over their hearts during these times, and few do so. It is a sign of patriotism, of which we need more during these turbulent times.
