NILES — The Niles Historical Society recently began planning events for the new year and also selected its board of officers. No takers on wellness center lease

NILES — The good news is that finances are looking up in Niles. The bad news is that no one submitted bids to lease the city-owned wellness center. That means the administration will have to come up with a plan to balance the loss of the $160,000 it expected to save by leasing the facility. “The plan to lease the building was a long shot,” said Councilman Barry Steffey Jr., D-4th Ward, and chair of the finance committee. “But it is too bad it didn’t come to fruition.” Mayor Tom Scarnecchia revealed no one bid on the center’s lease at the city’s fiscal supervision ...
