WARREN — A Warren man was arrested during the Trumbull County African American Heritage Festival Saturday evening after reports that he had a gun. Robert Harvey, 52, pleaded not guilty to a charge of inducing panic in front of Warren Municipal Court Judge Natasha Natale Monday morning. Brookfield nursing home evacuated because of fire

BROOKFIELD — The Brookfield Fire Department helped evacuate about 80 people from a nursing facility in Masury on Monday afternoon after a fire alarm call. According to the fire department’s social media site, the department received a call about 4:20 p.m. of smoke and fire and a possible explosion in the facility’s oxygen storage room at Addison Healthcare Center. Man indicted in Warren gas station shooting

WARREN — A man accused of firing a gun outside a city gas station in April was indicted last week by a Trumbull County grand jury on charges of felonious assault and discharge of a firearm on/near prohibited premises, both with a three-year gun specification. Makai J. Sims, 26, Heather Lane NW, Warren, was arrested around 2 a.m. April 14 after officers were called to the Sunoco at 805 W. Girard to crack down on speeding e-bikes, scooters

GIRARD — City officials plan to crack down on both youths and adults riding on electric bikes and scooters and not following the rules of the road. Police Chief John Freeman told city officials at the council meeting Monday of the many calls and complaints about people on electric bikes and scooters not following traffic rules. He said after calls are made, he has officers patrol areas where the riders have been seen. Advisory council announces members

CORTLAND — The Trumbull County Health District advisory council met this spring for election of members to the council. James Lapolla was elected as chairperson to the advisory council. Gregory Dubos was selected to fill a vacancy on the board. Other current board members are Robert Biery, Jr., John C. Messersmith, Harold O. Firster, Jack Simon, Kathy Salapata and Louis Adovasio.
