Hubbard trustee gives road updates

HUBBARD TOWNSHIP — Township officials and residents received updates about the road department’s activities, as well as where things stand with improving worn down infrastructure in the community. During his road report on Tuesday, on the heels of trustees placing a 1-mill renewal levy on the ballot for November’s election, Trustee Eric Lamb said he did the math and some measurements on Regina Drive, a joint city and township road he deemed the worst in the township. Color run raises $2,000 for local charities

Staff report GIRARD — A recent color run fundraiser coordinated by 2026 Girard High School graduates Lacie Lamm and Brooke Zatvarnicky raised more than $2,000 for local nonprofits that help veterans and first responders, including those in memory of fallen safety officers. The Fallen Heroes Girard 5K Color Run and Walk was May 31 with about 100 people attending, including event volunteers. Niles gains $402,000 for electrical upgrades

NILES — One part of the city soon will see some power upgrades for the sake of enterprise, thanks to a grant that was nearly six months in the works. According to a news release from Mayor Steve Mientkiewicz, the city has been awarded $402,500 by the Appalachian Regional Commission to expand the electrical capacity of industrial areas on its west side.
