WHAT: Howland park board meeting Oct. 9
PRESENT: Jim Fogarty, Shawn Pompelia and Alex Cornicelli
The board:
* Announced a park bench will be dedicated in honor of park board member Allen Seman who died May 1. The ceremony will be at 11 a.m. Nov. 13 following the next board meeting.
* Approved Aqua Doc for the 2027 season for the pond management program at $1,679 for the year.
* Announced the main township park will be closed from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday for the All American Cross Country conference with participants from Canfield, Boardman, Austintown, Warren G. Harding and Howland.
*Announced the township park van will have a magnet on the side of it letting the public know it is a park vehicle. Pompelia said park visitors were concerned about who was in the van traveling throughout the park.
* Announced the Christmas tree lighting will be 4:30 to 6 p.m. Dec. 6 at Richard Orwig Park near Howland High School.
* Announced the park restrooms will be closed effective November 1 for the winter season. People can still walk in the park.
