DETROIT (AP) — The United Auto Workers and General Motors have reached a tentative contract agreement that could end a monthlong strike that brought the automaker's U.S. factories to a standstill. The deal was hammered out Wednesday but it won't immediately end the strike by more than 49,000 workers. They're likely to stay on the picket lines at least a few more days until union committees vote on the deal. The entire membership also must vote. WARREN - Ivanka Trump and Ben Carson are not coming Monday to Youngstown. The advisor and daughter of President Donald Trump and the secretary of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development canceled the trip because of the mass shooting Sunday in Dayton. The tour was expected to stop at City Machine Technologies Inc. on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in Youngstown, the Youngstown Business Incubator and Stambaugh Auditorium. A roundtable discussion at the auditorium was to focus on workforce development and opportunity zones.

Thu. 8:39 a.m.: Pedestrian hit, killed by train in Newton Township

NEWTON TOWNSHIP — A pedestrian was hit and killed by a train late Wednesday on railroad tracks off Newton Falls Bailey Road behind the township building, according to police reports. The CSX's train's engineer called emergency crews about 11 p.m., according to the Trumbull County 911 Center. The coroner arrived at the scene about 2:30 a.m. today, reports state. Wed. 11:54 a.m.: Trump: GM Lordstown plant will build trucks

LORDSTOWN — General Motors is selling its Lordstown assembly plant to Workhouse to build electric trucks, President Donald Trump just tweeted. The deal is pending union agreement, according to the president. Trump added that GM will invest $700 million in three locations that will create 450 more jobs in Ohio. “I have been working nicely with GM to get this done,” Trump tweeted. The Lordstown facility was ilded by GM in March. It is among the automaker plans to close as it shifts production toward trucks and SUVs and electric and autonomous vehicles.

WARREN — The first medical marijuana dispensary in Trumbull and Mahoning counties is open for business. The store, gLeaf Medical Cannabis on Youngstown Road SE, formally opened at 10 a.m. today after have a soft launch earlier this week. It served pre-scheduled customers starting Tuesday and is now open to all customer with a medical marijuana card from the state and recommendation from a doctor. The store's general manager, A.J. Mon. 2:08 p.m.: Couple found dead in Niles home

NILES — Police at this hour are removing two bodies from a home at 541 Henry St. SE in what is being described as an apparent murder-suicide. Police were called to the home shortly before noon by the son of the deceased couple. He told police that he hadn't heard from his parents in a while, so he stopped at the home to check on them. He found the bodies. Police have not released names of the victims. A Tribune Chronicle reporter is on the scene. Additional details will be posted.
