Less than 50 hours before the gates were supposed to open for the first River Rock at the Amp concert of the summer at Warren Community Amphitheatre, Sunrise Entertainment announced the season has been canceled. A post on Facebook around 3:30 p.m. today says, “ With great disappointment, we announce that due to a directive from the State of Ohio, today, all remaining River Rock at the Amp concerts are CANCELED - July 3 through Aug. 29. “We thank you for your continued support beginning with our first season in 2010. YOUNGSTOWN — Youngstown police, about a dozen troopers from the Ohio State Highway patrol, Other officers, and officers in Mahoning County‘s armored, SWAT vehicle have dispersed a crowd of protesters from downtown. Bishop Murry submits resignation

The Roman Catholic Diocese of Youngstown announced Tuesday that Bishop George V. Murry, has submitted to Pope Francis his resignation from the office of diocesan bishop for reasons of ill health. Diagnosed with a form of acute leukemia, in April 2018, Murry underwent intensive chemo therapy at the Cleveland Clinic. In July 2019 he reentered the Cleveland Clinic for a recurrence of leukemia. At that time tests confirmed that he was in remission and that doctors were not recommending a bone marrow transplant. This past April, his leukemia returned and he resumed treatment. ...

ATLANTA (AP) — Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter was admitted to a hospital on Monday evening for a surgery to relieve pressure on his brain, caused by bleeding due to his recent falls, his spokeswoman said. The procedure is scheduled for this morning at Emory University Hospital, Deanna Congileo said in a statement. Carter has fallen at least three times this year, and the first incident in the spring required hip replacement surgery. DETROIT (AP) - A tentative four year contract with striking General Motors gives workers a mix of pay raises, lump sum payments and an $11,000 signing bonus and allows the automaker to proceed with closing its assembly plant in Lordstown.
