NEWTON TOWNSHIP -- A pedestrian was hit and killed by a train late Wednesday on railroad tracks off Newton Falls Bailey Road behind the township building, according to police reports.
The CSX’s train’s engineer called emergency crews about 11 p.m., according to the Trumbull County 911 Center.
The coroner arrived at the scene about 2:30 a.m. today, reports state. The woman’s identity has not yet been released, nor have emergency workers said why she was walking along the tracks last night.
Investigators are finishing up their work at the scene of the accident at this hour and have not yet released information, according to a supervisor at the 911 center said.
The Trumbull County Sheriff’s Office is leading the investigation. More information will be posted today as it becomes available.
