Advocates of tougher penalties for companion animal owners who willingly and negligently allow their pets to viciously attack others have had reason to cheer this month. As of March 20, Avery’s Law became the law of the land in the Buckeye State after sailing through both chambers of the state Legislature with rapid-fire speed. With the Iran war driving up the average price of gas more than a dollar per gallon, politicians are calling to suspend the gas tax until the crisis ends. A shortsighted tax “holiday” would do little to help drivers while distorting the market at the worst possible time. While Georgia Gov. Jullie Kelley, the lone Republican challenging U.S. Rep. Michael Rulli in the GOP primary for the latter’s congressional seat, has two victories over the incumbent’s campaign in the past few weeks.
