Sound off!

There are 1,300-1,500 babies born to illegals in Springfield, Ohio. Now eligible for Trump Accounts. End birthright citizenship or we will have many more babies there. Ohio taxpayers deserve the same benefits as the illegals. DeWine is lying when he says that they are helping the Ohio economy. They are taking more than giving.

In 1898, President McKinley annexed the Kingdom of Hawaii, at that time a republic. The citizens had no vote! McKinley was from Niles. It rubbed off on Niles, which doesn’t ask the citizens of a township if they want to be part of the city. They just take their land and income tax.

Has anyone given thought to driving eight SUVs (thousands of pounds) into the Reflecting Pool and not causing damage to its “old” concrete/cement base, possibly causing cracks? Trump and his entourage caused the damage. He loves to blame anything or anybody but himself.

I just saw an article where a person is complaining about racism. Those who play the race card are the real racists. Blaming Trump and racism is what the Democrats have been pushing, There is no proof. Stories of the help Trump gave were never in the media until someone made them public. If anyone brought racism back, it was Obama. All you have to do is look at TV to see that blacks have done well over the last decade. How about being respectful of one another instead of race-baiting?

Thank you to all of the countries that participated in our 250 celebrations, done so with good will and happiness for America; some countries alienated by Trump. The ships entering New York Harbor with planes flying overhead flying American red, white and blue streaming was a stunning sight to behold. Thanks America, we can stand together. with better years ahead.

Kudos to the Trumbull County Republican Women’s Club at the Howland parade. They gave out small American flags and miniature Statue of Liberties to the children, instead of candy. After the parade, the sides of the streets were strewn with leftover candy, but these mementos went home with the kids to be enjoyed in the future.

Newton Falls is the latest village/city to try to force township residents to be annexed to receive sewers. Greed is again the motive of the village. Income tax is what they want; not the people. Newton Falls doesn’t understand that township residents don’t want to be part of their fiasco! Shame on the villages/cities that use utilities against the townships!

I’m tired of the Vivek Ramaswamy TV commercials stating lies about Amy Acton. You can FACT CHECK the claims If you are in any doubt about them being false. Super PAC donors Jeff Yass and Ross Stevens are out-of-state billionaires who donated millions of dollars to hopefully beat Acton. Stevens, Yass and Ramaswamy all focus on the installation of new data centers that will increase their wealth. Our choice, another billionaire or Acton, who will focus on benefiting ALL Ohioans.

Two weeks ago, an article in the Tribune published the results of an anonymous survey taken by Family Court. The survey was sent to persons who have been involved in divorce or dissolution cases. My sincere hope is that a similar survey be emailed to those persons who have been affected by child custody rulings. I doubt some respondents would state that they were treated “with kindness,” nor would they respond that they experienced “fair outcomes.” My hope is that the court will soon consider another survey.

Mr. Governor rafted down the Mahoning with Mr. Mayor to highlight the “revitalization and restoration of the river.” How about the revitalization of adequate health care in the city? How about the restoration of a hospital in Warren? Why haven’t Warrenites received any help in those areas? I voted for Mr. DeWHINE. After his stance on the death penalty and his disinterest in our health care crisis, I wish I could rescind my vote.

I read the editorial in today’s paper (July 2) and found it very sad, disgusting and disturbing reading about the animal abuse in our Valley. Our local government isn’t doing nearly enough to help these animals. The people that do this are animals themselves. There should be a more severe punishment for these abusers. For instance, higher fines and more jail time. What are they waiting for — the dogs and cats to die? Please someone do the right thing. The animals need you.

Copperweld Steel salaried retirees’ pensions were taken away by the government during a bankruptcy, like Delphi, and we appealed to the government repeatedly throughout the years to no avail. If the Delphi retirees receive a lump-sum payment covering the pension benefits they should have received with 6% interest, the government should award the Copperweld steel salaried employees this same justice. What’s right, it’s right!

Several more dogs have died recently due to their owners’ negligence and lack of care during the extensive period of high heat and humidity. Warren should have a zero-tolerance policy for people who do not take care of their pets. This is out of control. Hopefully, criminal charges will be brought against these owners, and they will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law and beyond. Enough is enough.

The last time Bernie Moreno was in town, didn’t he slam his fist on the table and say he will get Trumbull Memorial Hospital opened again? How did that work out? This time he came to town, not to help our area, but to attack Democrats. Do Republicans have anything they can run on or is their entire plan just to attack their opponents? Also, just recently, Sharon Regional Hospital is reportedly beginning to show some financial instabilities.

Thank you to the Niles City Police Department for keeping our community safe. I recently needed assistance. I want to give a big shout out to Officer Jeff Walp and Nicole, of the Records Department. Both of you were kind, professional and knowledgeable. I greatly appreciate you treating this senior citizen with dignity and respect. Thank you very much. Stay safe.
