Make information truly public

DEAR EDITOR: Hubbard Trustees “inundated” by records requests. Here, in my opinion, is a solution for all government agencies who feel the public’s right to know is a time-consuming nuisance. Why not start putting all public records online so the TAXPAYERS who pay for this information can search for the information for themselves instead of the government officials acting as gatekeepers to decide if and when the PUBLIC can see this public information. Ohio legislators have been really busy

DEAR EDITOR: You are wondering why the Ohio legislature never addressed property taxes. They have been very, very busy working to preserve their gerrymander seats, taking away women’s rights, fussing about restrooms and locker rooms (no one cares) and claiming Haitians were eating people’s pets. DEAR EDITOR: Regarding your Jan. 15 editorial (“Does the data support tax Breaks for data centers?”), you are absolutely correct that this issue raises numerous unanswered questions. Beyond the debate over tax breaks, this matter is currently under review by the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio. DEAR EDITOR: Imagine your embarrassment when your name erroneously appears in the Tribune Chronicle as being delinquent in property taxes — especially when the county treasurer never contacted you regarding the supposed delinquency. I don’t currently receive the Tribune, and if it were not for a relative telling me that I appeared in the delinquent property taxes list, I would not have known about the supposed delinquency until the new tax bills arrived.
