H5N1 is dangerous to our pet cats
DEAR EDITOR:
Please report on H5N1 and how incredibly deadly it is to cats? There’s also possibly been evidence of it being able to pass from cats to humans. Even if not, though, every infection of a mammal raises the risks of it mutating to more easily infect other mammals.
We currently have a huge number of Canadian geese around and passing through and the infection can be “silent” in wild bird populations. A really basic but necessary precaution is to keep all cats indoors.
Please report on this, not only for humans, but for the sake of our four-legged friends, too?
