ΩEAR EDITOR: Election Day is over at last. It’s not like it was our first time going through this process; to some extent it happens every year. It’s part of our heritage as a representative democracy. At this point, I’m not sure we understand this. As our country grew, the need for a well-run government became more evident with each passing day. DEAR EDITOR: It seems as if there is little which can be agreed upon in the current political environment. One of the things which crosses the aisle is the desire for the U.S. to tackle the biggest challenges of our time. Tuberculosis is a respiratory illness that currently kills more people worldwide than any other infectious disease, including COVID. In 2022 alone, 1.3 million people died from TB worldwide. Community must assess the work force

DEAR EDITOR: Let’s see: our parents and grandparents worked at Copperweld, U.S. Steel, McDonald Steel, Republic Steel, not to mention Lordstown, which employed 12,000, and Packard, 15,000. You want people to come here by creating 50 to 100 jobs? It’s not going to work. I told both my children to leave because the jobs are not here anymore; this was over 20 years ago. DEAR EDITOR: I read an extraordinary health care article a while back. Some ex-convicts were committing new crimes and deliberately violating the conditions of their parole for the purpose of being returned to prison. This was astounding. The newspaper account went on to explain the “‘why”’ of it. Means-tested out of government health programs by their diligent pursuit of paid work, some ex-convicts face a terrible decision.
