Dan Polivka should receive your vote

DEAR EDITOR: With the upcoming election for Warren City Council president, I believe there is only one candidate doing more than just talking — and that candidate is Dan Polivka. I believe it is essential to elect leadership committed to improving the community and Dan Polivka is such a leader. Dan Polivka is active in his beliefs and will continue to uphold the beliefs that are supported by the people. Polivka brings extensive knowledge including serving 12 years as county commissioner, and serving as the 5th Ward Councilman and councilman-at-large. Dan is committed to live- ...

Everyone should do their duty and vote

DEAR EDITOR: Ohio citizens have been given a great right and privilege. Sadly, many choose not to use it. Boards of Elections across the state are anticipating a turnout of approximately 10-15% of eligible voters to cast a ballot in the currently being held election. Besides some local issues that may be on some ballots, there is a state issue on which to be voted. If each of us would take the time to cast our ballot, imagine the message it would send to our representatives in Columbus and Washington. It would remind them that we are here, that we are watching, and that we have the ...

Donald Trump isn’t fit to be POTUS

DEAR EDITOR: I love this country deeply, but I am concerned about what I see happening under Donald Trump’s leadership. My father, five uncles, a cousin and may late fiance, all served in the military and fought in wars to preserve our freedoms. They were brave enough to serve, unlike Trump, who avoided military service. Recently, my granddaughter joined the U.S. Army and I am incredibly proud of her. Yet, here come the Trump supporters who voted for a narcissistic egomaniac, a liar, a convicted felon and a draft dodger to lead our great nation. I cannot recall a previous president ...

Where were all the protesters then?

DEAR EDITOR: The recent protest on Saturday, April 19 brings to light many serious issues, while not knowing, or being in denial, of factual evidence most likely attributable to heads in the sand. Where were these and other individuals when Steward Health was operating locally from 2017-24, in continuation of its 14-year Ponzi scheme? What about its predecessor Community Health Systems, a publicly traded enterprise which also exhibited serious red flags of fraud? There are and have also been many other local fraud schemes, scams and corruption that include human trafficking as well ...

Elm Road BMV does it right and does it well

DEAR EDITOR: So many letters are negative and I have my gripes. But this one is sparklingly positive. I just visited the BMV in Warren / Elm Road Plaza. Have been there many times. (I’m not young!) I have to say, over the last few years, my visits there have been wonderfully pleasant. Efficiency and wait time have vastly improved and the staff members are so nice, friendly and patient. I left after my short visit smiling and feeling much gratitude. Thank you Elm Road BMV! CYNDE A. KENNEDY

Polivka should be council president

DEAR EDITOR: The people of Warren have overwhelmingly chosen Dan Polivka to represent them as their candidate of choice in the March 2024 primary. Polivka received over 50% of the votes cast in the primary over his opposition, which won Polivka the opportunity to advance to the general election. Although coming up short in his bid for commissioner, Polivka did win 28 out of 28 Warren precincts. It was a clear statement made by the people. It is Polivka’s proven track record of being a man that gets things done — his honesty and strong work ethic — which is why Warren voters were ...
