No need for bishop’s heavy-handed decree

DEAR EDITOR: This is re: the Diocese decree banning funeral visitation on church property. How uncaring, how unfeeling, how out-of-touch this bishop is! Does this decree apply to priests and nuns, too? Remember who built these churches and who pays to maintain and keep them running. Did anyone even bother to consult the laity as to their needs? No! It was decided by money-hungry funeral directors (what a conflict of interest) and priests who like more free time. Twenty Under 20 shows future is bright

DEAR EDITOR: How uplifting it was attending the Twenty Under 20 awards ceremony! Having the opportunity to see and learn about the exceptional participants was quite exhilarating. It gave me great pride to know that Trumbull County has so many wonderfully talented, kind and caring young people; deserving of the accolades delivered to them. Correct infrastructure problems in county

DEAR EDITOR: The recent infrastructure failures at the Trumbull County jail are symptomatic of a larger, countywide problem. Those boiler, roofing and plumbing issues should never have progressed to the point of failure. Mr. Dunnigan has made a start in checking the roofs on several county buildings. But this is an effort that must expand to plumbing, HVAC, parking lots, electrical, etc. on all buildings. Since these reports surfaced, additional stories of bullying and violence have come to light. Unfortunately, many have already judged the accused in the court of public opinion, denying them the opportunity to defend themselves before a judge. DEAR EDITOR: It has become crystal clear with the recently Republican- approved redistricting map, anti-abortion bills, anti-marijuana changes, and many other recent bills, that they have no interest in what the voters want or what is in our best interest.
