Remember the reason for the season: Jesus

DEAR EDITOR: Snow is falling from the sky. A brisk, chilly wind is blowing. Christmas trees are decorated, Children are dressed warmly as they play in the snow. Children are making snowmen, throwing snowballs and making snow angels. They frolic joyfully as they run to and fro with their friends. Yards are adorned with festive lights. Nativity scenes are rarely seen. Instead they are replaced with the Grinch, Frosty and Santa. Cash registers are cha-chinging from people buying presents for their loved ones. Grocery stores are busy due to people getting their Christmas dinner feast. ...

DEAR EDITOR: To those who think President Trump supporters are just not thinking — think again. We have been on the conservative side. Patriotic, religious and American; God, flag and country: this way of thinking has been with us. What turned us against the Democratic Party started with former President Lyndon Baines Johnson. Yes, the Vietnam War — now that was a killing spree (when) over 58,000 young Americans died. The Democratic Party does not think. According to recent legal filings, Ursuline coaches claim ignorance of hazing, administrators claim they followed policy, and the Diocese claims innocence of everything. What about the video mentioned in the lawsuits? What about past bad acts of the coaches? What about previous accusations of hazing at Ursuline? What is the school policy for students who are involved in hazing? Stop it from recurring by firing the three coaches and the current administrators and abolishing the football program. — Warren Coffee is up 66%. DEAR EDITOR: The newly elected mayor of New York City, Zohran Mamdani, won over a majority of voters with promises built around the words free, affordable and empowerment of working people. Throughout his campaign, he leaned heavily on class envy, promoting a coming “new era” that would mandate change through competence and compassion. Some of Mamdani’s proposed policies include freezing rents, making buses faster and free and providing universal child care — funded largely by the wealthy residents of NYC. But, as with socialism, these ideas can sound appealing in theory yet ...

DEAR EDITOR: Thanks to Joint Eagle Fire District EMTs Jeremy and McKenzie, both of whom were very compassionate and professional in responding to my need for help recently. As a Hubbard city taxpayer, I finally “benefited” from the fire levy. I make no apologies to Chief Stanish, whom I’ve pestered the past several years with visits and notes to the station, about emergency runs to Interstate 80, where the recovery of a crash victim’s billing costs may be a pipe dream. Commissioners to blame for Carnegie’s deterioration

DEAR EDITOR: If the Trumbull County Health Department is concerned about how the Trumbull County commissioners will maintain the Cortland 911 facility / building should they acquire it, one need only look at the front of the former Carnegie Public Library building, which now houses the Trumbull County Law Library. The commissioners should be ashamed of themselves for the intentional neglect of one of Trumbull County’s historic buildings. RANDIL J. RUDLOFF Warren
