Mail carriers Stamp out Hunger

NILES — Members of the National Association of Letter Carriers 385 will spend May 13 not only delivering mail but collecting nonperishable food items for the 25th annual Letter Carriers’ Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive. Each year on the second Saturday in May, letter carriers from across the nation collect nonperishable food donations from customers for the effort. The donations then directly go to local food banks and pantries to provide food to residents, like those in Trumbull and Mahoning counties. Banquet honors students

NILES —The Niles Interfaith Banquet, which marked its 51st year, recognized four local high school seniors by presenting scholarships at the April 23 gathering at Ciminero’s Banquet Centre. The Thomas Murphy Youth Awards included two $500 scholarships to Rea Gaugler of Niles and Nathan Hevener of Mineral Ridge. Two $100 scholarships were presented to Justin Beatty of Niles and Nathan Mohn of Girard. Niles City School District The basic menu is the same for all buildings. There is a daily ham sandwich option available at the Niles Intermediate and Primary schools. Several a la carte items are available daily at Niles Middle and High schools (prices vary).
