NAPLES, Fla. — Anthony A. “Tony” Miele, 92, of Naples, formerly of Niles, died Saturday, May 13, 2017. He was born Oct. 17, 1924, in Niles, the son of Philip and Julia Miele. He served his country in the U.S. Navy. Miele worked as a mechanical engineer before founding Miele Engineering in Warren, and later established Western Matic Corporation. NILES — Mary J. Falter, 98, passed away peacefully at 6:05 p.m. Sunday, July 2, 2017, at the Shepherd of the Valley Nursing Home, Niles. Mary was born April 6, 1919, in Nanty Glo, Pa., the daughter of John and Elizabeth Farkas Kovach. Mary moved to Niles many years ago. Mary attended St. Stephen Church, was employed as a sales clerk at the former Carlisle Department Store and was previously employed at King’s Department Store. MINERAL RIDGE — Daisy P. Fisher, 93, died Saturday, July 1, 2017. Born April 13, 1924, in Niles, she was the daughter of Lewis and Daisy D. Smith Amon. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Mineral Ridge. Survivors include her three sons, Larry C., Jarry L. and Danny D. Fisher; nine grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence J. Fisher. Weathersfield Police activity reported June 30-July 6: July 6, 1:31 p.m. — Criminal mischief was reported at 3240 state Route 46 after someone spray painted the side and rear of a rental property with pink spray paint. 1:29 p.m. — Vandalism was reported at 2742 Robbins Ave. after someone threw a broken cement block over a fence and struck two parked vehicles.
