Land use planning meeting set in Kinsman

WARREN — The Trumbull County Planning Commission will host the first public meeting as part of the countywide land use planning process at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Kinsman Township administration building, 7890 state Route 5. Planning commission officials said the meeting will focus on communities in the northeast portion of Trumbull County, including Bazetta, Fowler, Gustavus, Hartford, Johnston, Kinsman and Vernon townships, Cortland and Orangeville Village. YOUNGSTOWN — When Akiva Academy middle schoolers return to classes Sept. 8, they will do so in a brand new school. An open house and ribbon cutting took place Monday morning at the Altschuler Akiva Academy Goldstone-Mirkin Family Middle School at the Suzi Solomon Campus. The new school is in the former Allen’s Pharmacy Building across Gypsy Lane from the Jewish Community Center of Youngstown, where the students in grades 5 through 8 formerly were in a hallway at the back of the building. WARREN — The Warren Police Department is investigating a Sunday night incident in which a city man reported being robbed of his blue truck by two people who hit him on the head several times with a gun before getting into the truck and leaving.
