Champion police probe incident at golf course

CHAMPION — The Township Police Department is investigating vandalism at a local golf course, including damage to several golf carts and to a green on one of the holes. Police Chief Larry Skaggs said the department received a call Wednesday from the owner of Cranberry Hills Golf Course, 4891 Clovercrest Drive, of criminal damage at the business. Reports indicate Steve Welch, the owner of the course, told police someone took seven golf carts out of a shed where they were stored and drove them onto the course and damaged them. Large gathering broken up at Warren park

WARREN — Warren police dispersed a large after-hours gathering of more than 30 people, many of them juveniles at Burbank Park early Sunday and issued dozens of citations and arrests for criminal trespass. According to a Warren police report officers responded around 1:36 a.m. July 26 after receiving a report of 20 to 30 juveniles and multiple vehicles in the park in the 300 block of Olian Avenue NW after closing time. Niles board updates bonds

NILES — Nearly a decade has passed since certain bonds were purchased as part of a district’s project, and the Niles Board of Education passed resolutions that would save the district money as part of a loop. At Tuesday’s meeting, the Niles Board of Education approved a pair of resolutions, the first one providing the issuance and sale of them in their maximum principal amount of $735,000, and the other one for $9,910,000. Pet supplies collected for area agencies

Menards home improvement store in Bazetta is serving as a pet supply collection site through August and September. Donations collected at the store, located at 2015 Wal Mart Drive NE, will be forwarded to an area humane agency. There is a collection box near the exit doors at Menards to place donations. Menards offers a wide variety of pet supplies that will be donated, including food, treats, feeders, collars, beds, storage containers, mats and more.
