Two new levies make it to November ballot

While a majority of communities have agreed to place renewals on the ballot, others will look to their residents for additional money in November. Judge Kovoor sentences three in separate cases

WARREN — Three men were sentenced Tuesday on a variety of charges by Trumbull County Common Pleas Court Judge Sarah Kovoor. They include: • Ryan W. Francis, 32, of state Route 45, Bristolville, who received a two-year prison sentence after admitting to a probation violation for his felony conviction of a failure to comply with order or signal of police officer. Francis stipulated that a search of his residence by probation officers netted the discovery of two firearms, crossbows and ammunition — all items he is prohibited from possessing during his term of community control. ...

Annexation not needed for sewers on Scott Street

NEWTON FALLS — Village council has approved legislation to not require residents on Scott Street to annex into the village to receive sanitary sewer service for a current sewer project. Newton Falls Law Director Gary VanBrocklin said originally, a prior ordinance required anyone who connects to the village for utilities needed to annex into the village, but the ordinance passed recently by council exempts the requirement only for the Scott Street sewer project. Man arrested at Trump’s California golf course faces illegal weapons charges

LOS ANGELES (AP) — A California man who was arrested at President Donald Trump’s Los Angeles-area golf course was pretending to be part of the security detail preparing for Trump’s visit and had a stash of illegal weapons in his car and home, authorities said.
