While a majority of communities have agreed to place renewals on the ballot, others will look to their residents for additional money in November.
Wednesday was the filing deadline for the fall ballot, and a list provided by the Trumbull County Board of Elections shows two additional levies, 19 renewals and six liquor permit requests, as well as several proposed ordinances.
In McDonald, village council took steps to place a five-year, 4.5-mill safety services levy on the ballot, giving first reading to place the levy for police, fire and emergency medical service in May and giving its final reading Monday.
The levy, if passed, will generate $310,000 annually to benefit the police and fire departments.
Officials have said with the cost of equipment for the fire and police departments increasing in recent years, the new levy funds will help cover that as well as day-to-day operating costs and wages.
In Hubbard, the Hubbard Township Harding Park Board of Commissioners approved July 30 placing a 1.07 mill continuous levy on the ballot that would generate approximately $315,000 annually.
Park Commissioner Mike Stiver said Wednesday that the park's last levy, a 0.5-mill one, was in 1997, and it was when the park was separated from the library.
"Our operating budget right now is approximately $165,000, and we're barely, barely covering our day-to-day costs, and our employees are underpaid," Stiver said. "They only make -- our summer help only makes like $11 an hour."
Stiver said levy funds will go toward staffing and the park's aging playground equipment, which he says will need updates and repairs that they can't fund.
Stiver said park officials would also like to start looking into community events and grants, but some grants require matching funds that the board doesn't really have now.

GUSTAVUS FIRE LEVY: Renewal. Will collect 2.8 mills for providing and maintaining fire and EMS protection for four years.
HUBBARD CITY DATA BAN: Ordinance in favor of or rejecting a data center ban.
HUBBARD PARK LEVY: Additional. Will collect 1.07 mills for parks and recreational purposes for a continuing period of time for Harding Park. Voters in both the city and the township will vote on the issue.
HUBBARD TOWNSHIP ROAD LEVY: Renewal. Will collect 1 mill for the general construction, reconstruction, resurfacing and repair of streets, roads and bridges for five years.
LAKEVIEW LOCAL SCHOOL DISTRICT: Renewal. Will collect 1 mill for general permanent improvements for five years.
LIBERTY LOCAL SCHOOL DISTRICT: Renewal. Will collect 2.3 mills for current expenses for five years.
