Liberty police respond to attempted catalytic converter theft

LIBERTY — A search for two men who were attempting to steal from a local business Monday night ended because of environmental conditions. According to a police report, officers were called to The Nutrition Group on Belmont Avenue for a theft, and dispatchers said two individuals were trying to cut off catalytic converters and fled the scene. Gov. Mike DeWine had a bill signing ceremony for a new law to create the Ohio Defense and Space Commission — legislation sponsored by state Rep. Nick Santucci, R-Niles. Swinyer, 43, of North Park Avenue, was arraigned Friday in Warren Municipal Court on a charge of felonious assault, accused of hitting his sister in the head Sept. 10 with a beer bottle during an argument. The victim, who also was arraigned Friday on a charge of misdemeanor domestic violence, had a large amount of blood coming from a laceration on her head, police said. WARREN — The Tribune Chronicle is seeking nominations for its 14th annual Twenty Under 20 program. The newspaper will recognize 20 high-achieving individuals younger than 20 for their leadership skills through volunteerism, extracurricular activities and academic achievements.
