WARREN -- Joshua M. Swinyer, 43, of North Park Avenue, was arraigned Friday in Warren Municipal Court on a charge of felonious assault, accused of hitting his sister in the head Sept. 10 with a beer bottle during an argument.
The victim, who also was arraigned Friday on a charge of misdemeanor domestic violence, had a large amount of blood coming from a laceration on her head, police said.
A Warren police report states that officers were called to the 100 block of Douglas Street NW for a woman screaming for help and running down the street.
When officers arrived for the 6:15 p.m. call, they saw the woman at North Park Avenue and Douglas Street. She asked police to arrest her brother, Joshua Swinyer, for throwing a beer bottle at her that struck her in the back of her head as he was running after her.
She said she had argued with her brother about throwing away items belonging to their father. She said her brother ran after her outside before throwing the bottle.
She said her brother was inside the house. Officers entered the house through the entrance on North Park Avenue where he lives. The report suggested that she also lives there, but she also has an address in Campbell.
Joshua Swinyer was found walking out of an unattached garage in back of the house. He was taken into custody without incident.
He said he had an argument with his sister about clothes of their father that she had thrown away. During the argument, she threw a cheeseburger at him and called him a name. He said his sister also threw a bottle at him, and then he threw it at her.
He was taken to the Trumbull County jail and was later released from the jail after posting a $2,500 bond that was set on Friday, jail records show. He was released from the jail after his arraignment and returns to court Sept. 22, court records show.
His sister, Amanda D. Swinyer, 39, of Princess Street in Campbell, was taken to St. Joseph Warren Hospital. She was arraigned on a charge of misdemeanor domestic violence Friday, also in Warren Municipal Court.
A personal recognizance bond was set for her, and she pleaded not guilty. She failed to show up for her preliminary hearing on Tuesday and a warrant has been issued, court records show.
She was ordered to have no contact with the North Park Avenue address where the incident happened except to retrieve items at a specifically designated time and date.
