Suspect in Howland standoff identified

HOWLAND — The suspect in a standoff that concluded with the person committing suicide earlier this month has been identified. According to an email from the U.S. Marshals Northern District of Ohio office, the Trumbull County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim as Robert P. Young, 52. The representative said that the agency’s violent fugitive task force received information that Young, who has been on the run since 2022, was hiding in a house in the 3900 block of Highlawn Avenue SW, Howland. ODOT announces new road adjustments for I-76/80

In addition to previously announced road closures for the Interstate 80/76 pavement rehabilitation project in Austintown and Jackson townships, I-80 westbound between Salt Springs Road and state Route 46 will be reduced to one lane through the end of the month. Also, the ramp from I-80 west to Route 46 will be closed through late August. The detour will be I-80 westbound to I-76 westbound to Bailey Road to I-76 eastbound to I-80 eastbound to Route 46.

WARREN — Warren Municipal Court Judge Natasha Natale has filed a response to an affidavit filed by an attorney with the Ohio Public Defender’s Office asking that the Ohio Supreme Court disqualify Natale from hearing a criminal case. US stocks rise after shaky start to cut losses for week

NEW YORK (AP) — U.S. stocks rose Friday and trimmed their losses from a shaky week. That was even though the bond market, which has been the center of Wall Street’s action, remained jumpy and continued to add pressure. HOWLAND — Justin Keating, a senior at Howland High School, has spent time in Washington, D.C. serving as a Senate page. Keating said he has always been intrigued by the political process. He applied for the United States Senate Page Program after learning that it was available to qualified seniors. For the three-week summer session hosted in June, 30 pages were selected. The committee considered GPA, participation in extracurricular activities and leadership potential.
