CHAMPION — A township man is facing attempted murder charges following an incident Monday evening where he is accused of stabbing his wife multiple times. David Sabolsky, 64, was arrested by Champion police and booked into the Trumbull County jail. He was arraigned Tuesday in Warren Municipal Court on charges of attempted murder and felonious assault and is due back in court June 30, jail records show. Mecca officials seek portion of Trumbull’s remaining ARP funds

WARREN — Mecca trustees are seeking $175,000 of Trumbull County’s remaining American Rescue Plan funds to provide the final amount needed to build a town hall and community center that will provide preschool services for its youngest residents as well as medical and social services for its retired residents. County considers partnership with Healthy Hearts and Paws

WARREN — Healthy Hearts and Paws Project founder Jason Cooke talked at Tuesday’s Trumbull County Commissioners weekly workshop about how the county’s dog pound and his organization each are working at capacity with the quantity of stray dogs being housed at their facilities. “It is really bad out there,” Cooke said. “I have not seen anything like this. It is terrible having that number of stray dogs running loose. County plans to pass jail contract with Warren

WARREN — The Trumbull Commissioners are expected on Wednesday to pass a proposed three-year contract with Warren to provide jail services in which the city will pay the county $500,000 this year, $515,000 in 2027 and $530,450 in 2028 to house its prisoners. The new contract will be a substantial increase from the amount the city paid the county in 2025, which was $450,000. Warren has not paid the county any money to house its prisoners since the beginning of the year because a new contract had not been established. Girard to conduct feasibility study for mountain bike trail

GIRARD — City officials are planning to have a feasibility study done to determine if a mountain bike trail can be placed at the Girard Lower Lakes property. Councilman Tod Latell, D-at Large, requested legislation be prepared for an upcoming meeting to have city officials work with the Rust Belt Revival Trail Coalition for a possible mountain bike trail in Girard. Resident Tonya Carpenter invited council members to see the mountain bike trail at Lake Milton. Braceville trustees OK demolition of former school

BRACEVILLE — Township trustees have given approval to proceed with the demolition of the former Vaughn School building off Braceville Robinson Road. Trustees had a special meeting recently where they spoke to Aziz Roshid, who owns the property, noting that little work has been done on the building over the years, so demolition is the next step. Roshid said he planned to get work done on the building’s roof now that the weather has improved. He said roof replacement work would cost $100,000.
