In April, a resident of Champion reached out to the Trumbull County Historical Society regarding a Revolutionary War veteran believed to be buried in Champion Center Cemetery. YOUNGSTOWN — Allen M. Smith, 21, of Parkman Road in Warren, was indicted last week by a Mahoning County grand jury on charges of felonious assault, attempted rape, gross sexual imposition and strangulation in a Feb. 13 incident in which he is accused of strangling a woman until she almost passed out after giving her a ride in his car and then asking her for sexual favors in return. Staff report LIBERTY — The parking lot outside Pleasant Valley Church off Pleasant Valley Road is usually packed with cars and other vehicles, but this past weekend, there were next to none. A statement was posted on several doors at entrances to the church stating that all church services and church activities were being suspended until further notice. WARREN — The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation was called out to an officer-involved shooting in the city Friday afternoon. The shooting, which happened in a dead-end corner of Charles Avenue SE, left that portion of the road blocked off with crime scene tape. Warren Police Capt. Passport encourages exploration of history in Trumbull

Folks don’t need a passport to get around in Trumbull County, but they might win a prize if they have one. “This Is Trumbull: A Local History Adventure” is a passport program created by the Trumbull County Tourism Bureau and local historical societies.
