MESOPOTAMIA — Township officials over the July 4 holiday weekend dedicated a new flag pole at the center after residents expressed concerns of the need for a new pole and flag. Trustee Chairman Joe Pavlic said the township did not have the funds for a new pole and needed concrete work, but his brother John Pavlic was able to get donations from businesses and residents to pay for the concrete and the work for the flag pole and display area. WEATHERSFIELD — Township police said a 3-year-old girl almost drowned in a swimming pool on the Fourth of July, but adults at the scene administering CPR saved her life. Police Chief Michael Naples said the girl is recovering and is expected to be OK. Police responded at 3:45 p.m. Saturday to a home in the 1600 block of Warner Avenue for a child who almost drowned in a pool. First responders and adults at the scene were able to help the child with CPR. Naples said the action of the adults and first responders saved her life.
