MESOPOTAMIA -- Township officials over the July 4 holiday weekend dedicated a new flag pole at the center after residents expressed concerns of the need for a new pole and flag.
Trustee Chairman Joe Pavlic said the township did not have the funds for a new pole and needed concrete work, but his brother John Pavlic was able to get donations from businesses and residents to pay for the concrete and the work for the flag pole and display area.
The flag pole, which is across the street from the Mesopotamia General Store, was dedicated Saturday.
The township also concluded its three-day annual summer ox roast at the center that included food and various vendors.
Joe Pavlic said because of the very hot temperatures over the weekend, attendance was down. He said they had extra meat, which they sold to the public.
