HUBBARD — League of Women Voters representatives emphasized the importance of transparency and reaching a state of equal representation in their presentation about redistricting to Hubbard residents Monday night. Large number of assaults reported in Warren

WARREN — Warren police are investigating a large number of assaults that were reported in the city Friday. There were seven reports that involved someone striking another person in some way, one of them being a possible felony offense when a man came into another man’s house without permission to confront him. That possible felony report came in from Clemmens Avenue NW, where a man reported that at 9:50 p.m. Friday, a neighbor forced his way into the victim’s house and assaulted him. Thomas bill would require payment for power outages

State Rep. David Thomas, who represents parts of Trumbull County, introduced a bill to require electric utility companies to pay customers for repeated and/or prolonged power outages. Thomas, R-Jefferson, is sponsoring the bill with state Rep. Trisan Rader, D-Cleveland. With the Ohio House not meeting again until after the Nov. 3 election, Thomas said he didn’t expect the bill to pass this year. Liberty officials hear finance updates

LIBERTY — The township is more than halfway through its first full year with its new cemetery under its control, and has the potential to break even, according to Fiscal Officer Matthew Connelly. Trustees at a recent regular meeting heard from Connelly, who provided a cash-fund summary report, which shows the purchase orders and outstanding reserved funds for encumbrances that trustees have agreed to. Planning commission will host second land use plan meeting

WARREN — The Trumbull County Planning Commission will continue its public engagement process with the next meeting for southeastern areas at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Liberty Township Building, 1315 Churchill-Hubbard Road. The meeting will focus on communities in the southeastern portion of Trumbull County, including Brookfield, Hubbard, Liberty and Vienna townships, Hubbard city and Yankee Lake village.
