WARREN -- Warren police are investigating a large number of assaults that were reported in the city Friday.
There were seven reports that involved someone striking another person in some way, one of them being a possible felony offense when a man came into another man's house without permission to confront him.
That possible felony report came in from Clemmens Avenue NW, where a man reported that at 9:50 p.m. Friday, a neighbor forced his way into the victim's house and assaulted him. The report states the neighbor is a friend, but he was intoxicated when he showed up.
The victim said he was watching football when the neighbor knocked on the door. He opened the door and the suspect pushed his way into the house and started yelling, wanting to know why he was texting the suspect's girlfriend.
The victim said he was not trying to "get with" the suspect's girlfriend. He said the suspect swung at him and they fought. The suspect left, bleeding. The victim locked the door and called police.
Officers saw that the victim's cheek was swollen and had a small cut and that the victim's screen door was ripped off and damaged.
The officer went to the suspect's house and spoke with his girlfriend, who said she and the suspect had argued that day because the suspect was "supposed to be sober." The suspect had left the house, she said. Officers did not locate him, and there was no indication that a charge had yet been filed against the suspect. But the report was captioned aggravated burglary, a high level felony offense.
At 8:05 p.m. Friday, officers were called to Lane Drive SW for an assault on a juvenile by another juvenile.
Officers spoke with the mother of the victim. She said a person threw a rock at him, and it struck the victim in the forehead.
An officer saw a small contusion on the top of the boy's head, but it did not appear to have broken the skin. The boy otherwise seemed alert and fine and declined to be taken by ambulance to the hospital, the report states.
The officer was directed to another nearby apartment building, but no one answered when the officer knocked on the door.
At 12:57 a.m. Friday, police were dispatched to the 1900 block of Hazelwood Avenue SE for people fighting in the street. When officers arrived, they found people in the street and yard, and people were entering and departing a specific apartment.
Officers learned that two people were in the home and three others arrived in the street in front of the apartment in a car. The three in the car arrived so that one of them could talk to a man about the woman apparently being pregnant with the man's baby, the report states.
Two women fought each other. Then one woman used pepper spray on the man and woman from the apartment. All of the parties were advised on how to file charges.
At 1:15 a.m. Friday, officers were called to Hollywood Street NE for two brothers who were in their back yard when an unknown suspect or suspects entered the rear driveway-yard area, and the brothers were struck by the suspect or suspects.
Neither of the brothers could describe the suspects, and it was not known whether the suspect or suspects had a weapon, the report states. Both brothers had lacerations from being struck, the report states.
At 9 a.m. Friday, officers were called to the 2300 block of Plaza Avenue NE, where a man said he was visiting his intimate partner and the woman discovered "infidelity," causing her to strike him. He said he wanted the incident documented. He was told to contact the city prosecutor's office if he wanted to file charges.
At 11:55 a.m. Friday, officers were called to the1600 block of Youngstown Road, where a woman said she was assaulted by a man. She said she was standing by the passenger door of her vehicle when he struck her on the side of her face. Visible redness could be seen, the officer stated in the report.
The man left the scene before the officer arrived. The woman was told to consult with the prosecutor if she wanted to file charges.
Also on Friday, a report was filed on a juvenile who was assaulted at the Trumbull County Juvenile Justice Center on Main Avenue SW on Sept. 10 by another juvenile in the facility, according to staff. No other details were provided in the report.
