WHAT: Township trustees meeting Tuesday

PRESENT: Michael Hovis, Bob McBride and Joel Davis

Trustees:

• Approved permanent appropriations of $37,126 in Ohio opioid settlement funds.

• Approved a July 4 block party road closure on Timber Creek Drive from 4 to 11 p.m.

• Approved hiring attorney Christine Davis on an as-needed basis at $125 per hour.

• Approved a partnership with Sunburst Environmental Services for a cardboard recycling program. Two collection containers will be placed at the township road department.

• Approved hiring Brian Shotsch as deputy zoning inspector at $20 per hour for up to six hours per week on an as-needed basis beginning June 21.

• Appointed township resident Carrie Biery to the park board. Barry serves as executive director of the Logan’s Landing nonprofit organization that recently helped make the Imagination Station playground at the Township Park more accessible for those with autism.

• Approved $6,983 for park restroom repairs and fixture upgrades. The work will be completed by JC3 Builders, a contractor based in the township.

• Approved the purchase of 12 standard and five accessible picnic tables for $5,250. The tables will be built by Joel Hostetler of Bristolville.

• Heard from police Chief Michael Herlinger, who announced the township’s 21st annual Safety Day will be June 13 at the Trumbull County Fairgrounds.

• Heard from Road Superintendent Mike Arnold, who reported 281 tires collected through the tire recycling grant program. The township will be reimbursed $1,170.

Lordstown

WHAT: Board of education meeting June 3

PRESENT: Cheryl Kistler, Niki Reid, William Catlin, Rebekah Conn and Michelle Wells

The board:

• Hired Nicole O’Neill as a high school intervention specialist on a one-year contract. She replaces Christopher Marsco, who left for another school district.

• Approved Jan. 9, 23 and 30 and Feb. 5 for use of the high school auditorium for prep bowl tournaments. The prep bowl is coordinated by the Trumbull County Educational Service Center.
