WHAT: Park board meeting April 14

PRESENT: Heidi Barker, Jaclyn Gerberry and Harry Salapata

The board:

• Announced Riverside Park, located under the Niles viaduct, will open Memorial Day weekend and offer kayaking and canoeing.

• Said weather will determine when the splash pad at Waddell Park opens for the season.

• Approved MS Consultants for engineering design work for the Waddell Park multipurpose recreational area to be at the northeastern corner of the park. Old playground equipment will be removed to create the recreational area space.

• Heard from Park Director Mark Pallante that fencing is being installed around North Field at Waddell Park. Plans are also to add additional parking spaces for the baseball fields.

• Announced youth baseball will open for the season Saturday.

• Noted there are also four new concrete pads for the bleachers at Waddell Park.
