WHAT: Board of education meeting April 8
PRESENT: Cheryl Kistler, Niki Reid, William Catlin, Rebekah Conn and Michelle Wells
The board:
• Heard from Superintendent Greg Bonamase, who said the planetarium at the high school will be used for the 2026-27 school year and staff will receive in-house professional development on use of the room and its equipment.
• Heard from Bonamase about talks with village officials on the possible future use of the park ballfields for boys baseball. He said the girls softball team uses the village park fields while the boys teams use the field behind the elementary school.
• Approved Lauren DeJulio for additional duties as EMIS coordinator at $2,500 for the remainder of this school year and $5,000 for the 2026-27 year.
• Approved a trip for junior high school students to Hershey, Pa. May 11.
• Recognized Maria Mangine, music/band teacher, for being named “Young Educator of the Year” by the Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber at an awards ceremony last month.
• Received a $1,000 donation from Lordstown Christian Church for the elementary backpack program.
