Jewish federation earns grants for senior programs
YOUNGSTOWN — The Youngstown Area Jewish Federation recently received grants for its adult day services, guardianship, mental health counseling, Helping Hand and Aging Well programs.
Trumbull Memorial Health Foundation granted $10,000; Western Reserve Health Foundation, $25,000; and Mercy Health Foundation, $17,500.
Adult Day Services at Heritage Manor, part of the continuum of care offered by Senior Living by Youngstown Area Jewish Federation, helps participants function at their best emotionally, physically and intellectually. The program supports individuals who need supervision or can benefit from social interaction and structured activities while also offering respite for caregivers.
The Helping Hands fund was created to provide financial assistance to individuals and families within the Jewish community facing hardship because of unemployment, personal tragedies, financial emergencies, or other unexpected challenges.
The Aging Well programs are designed to help seniors stay connected with their community, learn new skills and improve their overall well-being.
The Youngstown Area Jewish Federation is the umbrella organization for several agencies, including Senior Living by Youngstown Area Jewish Federation, the Jewish Community Center of Youngstown, the Jewish Community Relations Council, and Jewish Family & Community Services. The Federation works to promote the welfare of the Jewish people, locally, nationally and overseas.
