Police chase case leads county grand jury list

WARREN — A Niles man who is accused of leading police last month on two chases through four communities was indicted Wednesday by a Trumbull County grand jury on a host of charges, including four felonies.

Thomas E. White, 38, of 730 Indiana Ave., is charged with felonious assault, two counts of failure to comply with order or signal of police officer, vandalism, aggravated menacing and criminal damaging.

White, who has been in Trumbull County jail since early on May 8, was in a pickup truck along Niles Vienna Road about 9:30 p.m May 7 when Niles police tried to pull him over as they investigated a domestic incident in the city.

According to reports, police said White’s truck kept moving and officers followed it until it disappeared somewhere along U.S. Route 422. Later on, a 911 dispatcher received a report that a truck matching the description of the one White was driving had rammed a trailer at the Westwood Lake Trailer Park in Weathersfield.

Officer next spotted White’s truck along Salt Springs Road in Lordstown, reports state, chasing it along Bailey and Palmyra roads into Newton Township where White was arrested on Arlington Boulevard in Newton Falls.

White’s case has been assigned to Common Pleas Judge Peter Kontos, court records show, and he is expected to be arraigned Monday.

The grand jury issued 47 indictments, including 13 sealed ones.

The following people, including three state prison inmates, will be arraigned within the next two weeks before Common Pleas Court judges:

• Emanuel G. Cofield, 24, 155 Tod Ave. NW, Warren, escape;

•Jamall Jamel Keith Merchant Jr., 22, in care of Ohio State Penitentiary, two counts assault, harassment with a bodily substance;

• James T. Schultz, 29, in care of Trumbull Correctional Institution, complicity to illegal conveyance of prohibited items onto the grounds of a detention facility or institution and aggravated possession of drugs;

• Ali L. Tatum, 39, in care of Trumbull Correctional Institution, complicity to illegal conveyance of prohibited items onto the grounds of a detention facility or institution; and aggravated possession of drugs;

• Ryan M. Hines, 32, of 1587 Warner Road NE, Vienna, aggravated assault;

• Rae’Kwon T. Rodgers, 23, 1862 Southwest Blvd. SW, Warren, possessing a weapon as a felon;

• Jamichael D. Anderson, 31, 2221 Estabrook Ave. NW, Warren, possession of heroin;

• Jeffrey J. Peasley, 39, 2394 Mallory, Kent, possessing a weapon as a felon and improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle;

• Armonte North, 20, 129 Elm Road NE, Warren, aggravated burglary and retaliation;

• Theodore A. Sprague, 27, 1787 Clemmons Ave. NW, Warren, domestic violence and disrupting public services;

• Max D. Sparks, 27, in care of the Trumbull County jail, two counts receiving stolen property and theft;

• Tyler M. Penwell, 19, 256 S. Osborn Ave., Youngstown, robbery and receiving stolen property;

• Adam Lee Elser, 25, 5906 Warner Road, Kinsman, domestic violence and aggravated menacing;

• Joseph C. Shuttic Jr., 39, 145 Helen Ave., Niles, three counts grand theft, receiving stolen property;

• Renee L. Sass, 33, 4230 Helena Ave., Youngstown, possession of fentanyl-related compound with specification of forfeiture and operating vehicle under the influence;

• Doreen Ann Bellino, 44, 926 Alameda Ave., Youngstown, aggravated possession of drugs; possessing drug abuse instruments;

•Charles R. Fisher, 33, 9562 Durst Colebrook Road, North Bloomfield, aggravated possession of drugs;

• Donyea M. Stubbs, 25, 168 Woodbine Ave. SE, Warren, failure to notify sheriff of change of address;

• Kevin L. Rigg II, 25, 2075 Weir Road NE, Lot 54, Howland, possession of deadly weapon while under detention;

• Zachery E. Baumgardner, 25, 1 N. Wren St., Fowler, domestic violence;

• Brian J. Rose, 37, 2914 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Youngstown, possessing weapon as a felon; improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle and aggravated possession of drugs;

• Billy J. Barry, 38, 1529 Front St. SW, Warren, aggravated possession of drugs and possession of cocaine;

• William G. Brown, 50, 3120 Clearwater St., Warren, failure to comply with order or signal of a police officer, possessing a weapon as a felon and improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle;

• Gregory Rarey, 26, 126 Amy Place, Cortland, receiving stolen property;

• Clayton Dowe, 25, 945 Swallow St., Warren, possession of fentanyl-related compound, possession of cocaine, and aggravated possession of drugs with specification of forfeiture;

• Floyd Lee Prusky, 30, 1754 Victoria St., Warren, three counts breaking and entering and receiving stolen property;

•Matthew D. Stein, 45, 4226 Cadwallader Sonk Road, Fowler, failure to comply with order or signal of police officer, domestic violence and aggravated menacing.

The following cases were remanded to a lower court on misdemeanor charges:

• Samantha Jo Terbovich, 31, 4249 Sunnybrook Drive SE, Warren, petty theft;

• Otis Covlin Jr., 55, 3094 Weilacher Drive, Warren, two counts criminal damages;

• David C. Holliday, 38, 69 10th St., Niles, domestic violence;

• Jeffrey S. McCauley, 53, 128 Bentwillow Drive, Niles, domestic violence;

• Angelina M. Buford, 23, 53 W. Lewis St., Struthers, domestic violence and criminal damaging;

• Nicholas C. Allman, 22, 1394 Oak St. SW, Warren, intimidation of a victim and aggravated menacing.

No charges were filed in these cases:
