Law enforcement cracks down on Lake Milton violators

LAKE MILTON — Working with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources and the Mahoning Valley Law Enforcement Task Force, deputies with the Mahoning County Sheriff’s Office conducted a crackdown on lawbreakers at Lake Milton last weekend.

Deputies, agents and ODNR officers, some working undercover, arrested or cited 15 people for various infractions. The operation was conducted at the behest of the ODNR, the sheriff’s office stated in a press release.

Officers conducted foot and vehicle surveillance in the beach area and deputies in marked cruisers and task force unmarked cars conducted traffic stops throughout the area, the release states.

Below is a breakdown of the citations and summons issued: no operator’s license two times and single instances of driving under suspension, expired registration and window-tint violations.

Summonses for misdemeanor offenses were issued for open container twice, misdemeanor drug paraphernalia twice, marijuana possession six times, THC vape possession once, public consumption of marijuana twice, and underage (21) vape possession twice.

The release states that the sheriff’s office and its partners are “working to ensure the safety of those visiting Lake Milton State Park and the surrounding Village of Craig Beach.” Organizers of the operation will carry out additional operations like this “depending on weather conditions and the need for further interdictions,” the release states.
