Trumbull County 911 Director Ernest Cook on Thursday was fired by Trumbull County commissioners after an executive session that lasted several hours. Cook, 69, 7144 Wildwood Drive, Brookfield, last week had pleaded no contest to charges of loss of physical control under the influence, a first-degree misdemeanor, and failure to report a July 2018 accident, a minor misdemeanor. VIENNA — A series of large explosions may be heard today from the Youngstown Air Reserve Station. The 910th Airlift Wing is conducting explosive ordnance training between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. today, according to Senior Master Sgt. Bob Barko Jr., superintendent of the 910th Airlift Wing public affairs office. Police agencies have been notified of the training schedule. Outsiders, including local media, have not been invited onto the grounds to observe the training because of COVID-19 restrictions, Barko said.
NEWTON FALLS -- Village residents and police were asked to help locate a water main break this afternoon in the community that was found and helped prevent loss of water. Village Manager David Lynch posted on the village's Facebook page that the break had been located after Chuck Lane of the water distribution department was able to detect where the break was.Lynch said the break was in the area of Canal and Franklin streets. WARREN - Gov. Mike DeWine today had the Ohio Department of Health order seven counties, including Trumbull, to mandate that people there wear a face mask when in public effective at 6 p.m. Wednesday. The seven counties are designated as Level 3 (red) high-risk areas for COVID-19. The order will stay on as long as the county is at a red level or if it goes to the highest level, purple.
