Olympics showed how America should be

DEAR EDITOR: As I watched the opening of the Olympics, I couldn’t help but think about how a free country should look. I saw happy, hopeful faces of athletes getting ready to compete against athletes from different countries, friend or foe. I changed the channel and what did I see? I saw a city being invaded by a Gestapo-type Trump ICE, wearing masks, dark glasses to conceal their faces, handguns, and automatic rifles. Juvenile crime really isn’t much of a mystery at all

DEAR EDITOR: I heard that the Warren City Council members, the mayor, a judge, teachers and others are going to come together on why there is juvenile crime in the city. I thought these people were smarter. You only have to look into the home and home life. Is there a father figure (probably not) or a mother to set a routine, discipline or rules to abide by, to make sure they go to school, come home, do their homework or even have home-cooked meal? DEAR EDITOR: So the illustrious president lost a case in the Supreme Court regarding the tariffs imposed. Even the Supreme Court justices he appointed to the court said no. I see where he never heard of the word “no.” He has vowed to fight the court until the day he leaves office. This is in addition to the court cases he seems to file every day. He wants to put his name and face on all of America. He wants to bankrupt America at the expense of Joe Public. He never has enough money to satisfy himself. In 1975, the state of Ohio commissioned a cost-reduction team to examine waste and inefficiency in state government. After the short, six-week study, the team recommended cuts in specific areas totaling over $8 million per year. In fact, I was told by a member of the team that we barely scratched the surface in that short time. Think of what such a team could find now. Should Ohio be DOGE-ed? What is wrong with anti-ICE zealots?

DEAR EDITOR: If I read the article in Friday’s paper (Feb. 6) correctly, a Mr. Charles Ingram allegedly posted videos calling for the killing of any number of people because of the performance of the ICE agents in Minneapolis. Among the persons he mentioned were border guards. What is wrong with people like Mr. Ingram? Don’t they realize that someone who thinks that violence is the answer doesn’t really understand the discussion? I have a son who has been a border guard for over 40 years.
