ODOT, Niles review school’s safety needs

NILES — Officials from the Ohio Department of Transportation visited Niles Middle School on Friday to tour the area around the school to see what improvements need to be made to its crosswalks, sidewalks and traffic signals. AUSTINTOWN — The community gathered Thursday evening at Quaker Steak & Lube for Patriot Day, an annual celebration honoring military veterans and marking the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. Tim Ryan, who represented the Mahoning Valley in the U.S. House for 20 years, was among 20 people named to the Commission on AI and the Future of the American Workforce. Operators of Warren recycling center will battle on following theft

WARREN — The operators of a West Market Street recycling center who both serve in the military lost about $1,000 in merchandise to thieves this week, but they said they will soldier on. Chief Operating Officer Noe Lugo and Clover Recycling owner Jenny Smith lost $1,000 in tools sometime Tuesday night/Wednesday morning, so they spent the night in the facility Wednesday night, waiting, in case the person or persons came back. AWL hosts pet yoga to help with adoptions

VIENNA — Officials at the Animal Welfare League of Trumbull County are always looking at ways to get their shelter dogs and cats adopted and have added shelter pet yoga as a way for people to exercise while also seeing the available dogs. Maggie Guy, volunteer coordinator for the Animal Welfare League, said every other month, people come to the AWL for yoga classes. “While people are doing yoga, we showcase some of our animals.
