It’s disturbing to hear city council members plot and plan against each other instead of working for the city’s best interest. A councilman contacts other council members to manipulate decisions on how to vote on whether elected 5th Ward Councilwoman Tiffany Stanford should stay on council. That’s highly unethical. Not to mention blatant misinformation in last week’s Sound offs. Elected officials are to fairly, professionally serve the people, instead of plotting and manipulating to control.

Maybe YSU should include Panic 101 among the curriculum cuts that are sending shock waves through the student body. The anti-Bill Johnson crowd is looking for any reason to pounce on the incoming president. If the plan to reduce academic programs that will result in layoffs predates Johnson’s arrival — by like 3-to-5 years — why crucify the newbie? Maybe he’s the right person to steer the ship during the trim job.

I graduated from YSU, as did my children and other relatives. YSU has big ticket academics, accredited programs in engineering, business, computer science, physical therapy, respiratory care, EMT, dental / medical assisting. Also Premed, and Pre Law. Creatively, some programs allow students to study / finish degrees at Akron University and NEOUCOM. The Buhl Planetarium, Butler Art Museum and Dana School of Music are located on campus! All are noteworthy accomplishments of trustees / members of the YSU community. Applause, applause!

If Bill Johnson were a left-leaning Democrat, he would be welcomed by all the naysayers. Many of the colleges / universities in America are headed by leftists. As a recent example, it was reported that Claudine Gay, former president of Harvard, was a proven plagiarizer. Astonishingly, she received support to retain her position! Johnson is a man of principle, honesty and integrity, which have been sorely missing in academia for years.

Commissioner Denny Malloy won’t let Niki Frenchko speak or voice opinions, but he allows others to launch personal attacks without regard to time limits. Often, he joins the attacks. He invited her opponent to lead prayers before the meeting and allowed him to defend himself in business affairs. None is county business, but a political stunt. Mauro can stop it, but he just laughs and bobs his head. When it gets uncomfortable for the boys, they rapidly adjourn.

Niki Frenchko has accomplished nothing as county commissioner. She demeaned and demoralized public officials. She has done nothing but accumulate lawsuits and create a hostile work environment. Anyone causing a toxic work environment at a business would be fired. Now she wants to turn Hubbard into Sodom and Gomora of Ohio. To top it off she has gall to show up at Hubbard Municipal building. It’s time for her to go and get Trumbull County back in order.

Reading the front page headline of last Saturday’s Tribune Chronicle, “Trumbull aims to stop invasive species,” my wife asked me, “Are they talking about Niki Frenchko?”

Christmas Day has passed and no visit allowed for my granddaughter. Does no one see the anguish for all involved — the child, her mom and her grandparents. Not to be permitted to celebrate Christmas together for two years is appalling. I hope those of you who aspire to be family court judges realize what an uncaring, callous system you are interested in joining and I hope you can change it.

Ohio Rep. Beth Liston, D-Dublin, calls those who voted to override DeWine’s veto arrogant? There is no arrogance greater than that of those who tell God that He erred in His creation, and then seek to amend His work.
