NEWTON FALLS — Russell O. Davis, 85, passed away peacefully into eternal rest at 4:05 p.m. Sunday, May 24, 2026, with his family by his side.
He was born Sept. 15, 1940, in Warren, a son of the late Russell Davis and Lafon Blevins Davis. Russell married the love of his life, Betty Lou Sereno, on June 13, 1975, and they enjoyed 47 years of marriage together until her death on Feb. 17, 2023.
He has lived in Newton Falls since 1993; he was formerly of Windham.
Russell worked as an assembler for General Motors in Lordstown for 30 years before retiring in 1996 and was a member of UAW 1112. He enjoyed walking, biking and doing his yardwork.
Russell was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Betty Lou Davis; three sisters, Bonnie and Shirley Davis, and Marilyn Neal; and two brothers, James and Earl Davis.
He is survived by five daughters, Judith (Mark) Muehlbauer of Howland, Theresa (Ronald) Ayers of North Canton, Christina (Edward) Schier of Ashtabula, LaFonda (James) Bejger of Twinsburg and Mary Davis Ganganna (Willie Cook) of Olney, Maryland; two sons, Russell Jr. (Kathy) Davis of Sparks, Nevada, and Rodger Davis of Champion; two stepsons, Mark (Deborah) Johnson of Salem and Kurt (Andi) Johnson of Freedom; three sisters, Linda (Joe) Toth of Niles, Sandra Solic of Youngstown and Debra Ward of Lordstown; 17 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to his brothers-in-law, Edgel (Sonny) Soreno, Thomas (Cheech) Sereno and Bill Friend, and also good friends, Hyman and Johnny Leatherwood of Lordstown, for your continued love and support; he enjoyed your daily conversations with him over the past three years.
Funeral services will take place at noon Saturday, May 30, 2026, at the James Funeral Home, Newton Falls, with Pastor Jennifer Dorn officiating. Calling hours will be 11 a.m. to noon Saturday, prior to the services.
Russell will be laid to rest beside his wife, Betty, in Newton Falls Cemetery.
