Lucille A. McGuire 1924-2025

NEWTON, N.C. — After living over 100 happy and active years, Lucille A. McGuire passed away on the evening of Saturday, June 21, 2025.

Lucille was born Oct. 11, 1924, the eldest child of Albert and Elsie Guarnieri. Lucille was raised in Warren and lived there the vast majority of her life. Warren was her home, and she thoroughly enjoyed the community and its people.

In her younger years, Lucille worked at her father’s tobacco and candy warehouse.

Lucille graduated from St. Mary’s College in South Bend, Indiana, with a degree in dietetics. While raising her family, she worked at various times as a dietitian at Northside Hospital and Warren General Hospital.

Lucille was always busy, whether it involved her family, work, leisure activities or socializing. Lucille’s longevity is likely attributed to staying mentally and physically active, possibly aided by a cocktail or two at happy hour.

While in high school, Lucille met Bernard “Mick” McGuire and formed an unbreakable bond that lasted 48 years until his passing. Together, they raised five children and were active in their lives and the lives of their grandchildren. Mick and Lu were the definition of a loving team.

After a number of years as a widow, Lucille married C. Richard “Dick” Bayman and they enjoyed each other’s company prior to his death.

Outside of her family, Lucille enjoyed socializing. Never one to pass on a party, dinner or other social activity, Lucille would create an event if nothing was on her social calendar. Last October, over 60 friends and family attended a weeklong birthday celebration at her daughter’s home in North Carolina. Queen Lucille thoroughly enjoyed her centennial.

Lucille enjoyed golf and playing cards and, over the years, was a member of a number of golf associations and bridge groups.

Lucille loved people and was always looking to help others with a meal, encouraging words or other kindness.

Lucille leaves her children and their families as her legacy. She will be missed by her children, Dan (Christiane), Jack (Pam), Marilyn (Bobby) Bowden, Bill (Charlene) and Janet (Tom) Groner. Lucille leaves behind 13 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren (with three more on the way) and one great-great-grandchild.

Lucille was preceded in death by her brother, Albert “Sonny,” and his wife, Ann, as well as her brother, Donald “Buzz.” Lucille was very close to Donald’s wife, Sandy, who would be glad to regale with tales of their adventures together.

In Lucille’s memory, her family requests that material gifts be directed to St. Vincent de Paul Northeast Ohio / Trumbull County or Trumbull Mobile Meals.

Lucille will be interred at a future date next to Mick in All Souls Cemetery.
