Darrell W. Ockenfels 1956–2025

Born Jan. 31, 1956, Darrell was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, loyal brother and faithful friend. He shared 47 wonderful years of marriage with his wife, Sharon, and built a life filled with love, laughter and family.

He is lovingly remembered by his children, Curtis (Lena) Ockenfels and Sara (Matthew) McElhinny. Darrell was endlessly proud of his grandchildren, Emma and Lucas Ockenfels and Benjamin, Rian and Anna McElhinny. He also is survived by his brother, Mike (Andrea) Ockenfels.

Darrell loved hunting, fishing for walleye, time with family and friends, trips to the Florida Keys and his loyal dog, Susie-Q.

Darrell’s warmth, humor and steady presence touched many lives.

A celebration of life will be 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 24, 2025, in Vienna Township Bicentennial Park. Family and friends are invited to share stories and honor his memory.

Contributions in memory of Darrell may be directed to family or to support the celebration of life.
