Historic scenes featured in calendar NILES — Calendars featuring historical photographs from the city’s earliest days are for sale through the Niles Historical Society for $10. The society plans to annually release the calendars to raise money. The 2017 calendar is on sale and has photos from the late 19th century and the early 20th century, including images of the old fire station and the 1913 flood. TNT stages canine comedy

A female is causing a rift between Greg and Kate, a middle-aged married couple. One might say the relationship is going to the dogs. The conceit in A.R. MVSD gets report on leaks

NILES — None of the cracks in the dam over Meander Reservoir have led to leaks and are not considered alarming, though the dam needs substantial work, the outgoing chief engineer told Niles City Council members Jan. 11. Engineer Tom Holloway said he and the four board members that govern the Mahoning Valley Sanitary District have received a preliminary report about the cracks in the dam and the facility’s buildings, but it must be reviewed and followed up on before a full report can be released to the public. NILES — A local FIRST LEGO League team will head to the Ohio FIRST LEGO League Championship at Wright State University in Dayton. The Mechanical Fllyers team, which practices at the Art Outreach Gallery in the Eastwood Mall Complex, consists of seven area students ages 9 to 14 and includes two students from Mineral Ridge, one from Warren, one from Ohio Virtual Academy and three from Living Word Christian School.
