Staff report With reports of many trees down and roof damage to some homes in Liberty and Hubbard townships, officials from the National Weather Service in Cleveland are to be in parts of the Mahoning Valley today to determine the severity of a tornado that passed through the area. Trumbull County Emergency Management Director John Hickey said he received calls of many trees down and one house having roof damage in Hubbard Township. US identifies 3rd service member believed to have been killed in Iranian attack

RALEIGH, North Carolina (AP) — The U.S. military has confirmed that a third service member is believed to be dead in Friday’s attack on a base in Jordan and identified them as Sgt. Angel S. Rampersad, 28, of New York. The confirmation brings the death toll to 18 U.S. service members killed since the war began. On Monday, the Pentagon identified 1st Lt. Tyler James Feehan, 25, of Ewa Beach, Hawaii, and Pvt. Isabella Gonzales, 19, of Carrollton, Texas, as the two other soldiers who were killed in Jordan in Friday’s attacks. Vienna trustee defends work of water advisory board

WARREN — Vienna Trustee Phil Pegg sought to defend the work of the Trumbull County Water Advisory Board at Tuesday’s Trumbull County Commissioners workshop. The water board’s chairman, Rex Fee, resigned from his position last week, noting the difficulty it had in getting enough members to meet to have a quorum vote. NTSB releases preliminary report on Middlefield plane crash

A person on the ground saw the moments leading up to the single-engine, four-seat Piper Comanche aircraft that crashed east of Middlefield on June 30, killing the pilot and its two passengers. The person reported that she saw the plane cross above the tree line into her property. Then the right wing dipped, while descending slightly. Then she saw the plane briefly return to level.
