Weathersfield plans for National Night Out

WEATHERSFIELD — A National Night Out is coming Aug. 4 after township officials approved a community event designed to help residents get to know their local police officers and firefighters. The event will be hosted by the Weathersfield Community Connection Partners, 6 to 8 p.m. at the township park off state Route 46. Township trustees said they recognize the importance of fostering positive relationships between residents and public safety personnel through community engagement and educational activities. McDONALD SAFETY DAY: The McDonald Village Safety Day will be 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Woodland Park. The event is sponsored by the McDonald Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 194. NEW YORK (AP) — Subaru of America is recalling more than 541,000 of its Crosstrek, Forester, and Ascent SUVs due to an inaccurate label attached to the vehicles. According to a notice published by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration this week, the now-recalled vehicles were made with a certification label that incorrectly states their gross axle weight rating, or GAWR, which reflects the maximum weight that each axle of a vehicle can support.
