State awards housing grants

The Trumbull County Land Reutilization Corp. received $1 million in Welcome Home Ohio Program grants to be used for housing. Half of the money will be used for the purchase of houses and the rest to rehabilitate five homes in the county. Also, Habitat for Humanity of Southeast Ohio, which includes Mahoning and Trumbull among its 22 counties, received $400,000 to purchase houses and $600,000 for the rehabilitation or construction of nine others. The director of galleries and public art at the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust is the new director of the Butler Institute of American Art in Youngstown. The Butler board approved the hiring of Anastasia James at its meeting on Thursday. Trumbull approves funding to improve cybersecurity in county

WARREN — The Trumbull County commissioners approved two resolutions providing a total of $214,429.40 for programs over a three-year period to improve cybersecurity in the county. “We are constantly updating our cybersecurity,” Commissioner Denny Malloy stated after Wednesday’s meeting. “We are spending whatever it takes to make sure the county is as protected as it can be.” During a Thursday morning meeting, Malloy noted the county is following recommendations from professionals to both monitor and protect county departments from cyber threats. “We have a team in our ...
