Malloy and Dunlap seeking seat as Trumbull Republican chairman

Trumbull County Commissioner Denny Malloy, who lost reelection in the Republican primary, said he is committed to running for county GOP chairman, setting up a contest between him and Jim Dunlap, the party’s first vice chairman. Malloy said: “I’ll be honored to lead the party. I’m up to the task. I love this county and the direction it’s going. Mathews selects new schools chief

VIENNA — A Mahoning County school administrator was hired Thursday to lead the Mathews Local School District as its new superintendent. Mathews school board offered Dennis Hynes a three-year contract running from Aug. 1, 2026, through July 31, 2029, at an annual salary of $110,000. Hynes was chosen out of 14 candidates and four finalists. The board earlier accepted Superintendent Russell McQuaide’s retirement, effective July 31. Newton Township trustees hear concerns over sober house

NEWTON TOWNSHIP — Although township officials said no one has applied for any permits for a sober recovery house in the township, they plan to check on a property off West River Road that residents suspect may be one in progress. Man charged in child-luring case returns to court today

WARREN — A man charged in connection with reported child-luring incidents at a local gas station is set to return to court today. In Warren Municipal Court on Tuesday, Francisco Javier Flores, 38, pleaded not guilty to charges of kidnapping; attempting to commit an offense — felony; sexual imposition; and contributing to the unruliness or delinquency of a minor.
